Bike Recycling Program finds a new home:

The Bicycle Recycling Program (BRP) has a new home! Our new workshop is located in the Chase St. Warehouse complex. Unlike the former BRP location, the new space has a roof, electricity, and water and will allow us to work without being constrained by weather or daylight, providing us with a great opportunity to reach our yearly goal of 60 refurbished bicycles given to the community!

We will be moving to the new work space on Saturday, October 21, 2006 and we NEED YOUR HELP, especially if you have a pickup truck. The move will start at noon and continue until finished. We will be moving all contents of our two storage units (bicycles, parts, work benches, shelving units and boxes of stuff). If you can help out, please contact Peter Norris. Thanks in advance if you can help!

To learn more about the BRP, please visit <http://bikeathens.com/activities/bike_recycling/index.html>.

UGA Campaign for Charities benefits BikeAthens:

The annual UGA Campaign for Charities has begun. If you are a UGA employee, you have a special opportunity to support BikeAthens. Through December 4th, UGA will conduct a single campaign for charitable contributions to United Way and Georgia Shares members, including BikeAthens. Through an effortless payroll deduction, faculty and staff can designate BikeAthens as a recipient charity (group # 194064). The Campaign for Charities packets are being delivered to UGA departments - for more information, ask your supervisor, office manager, or dean. Since BikeAthens is a recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, your donation is fully tax-deductible. For details on giving to BikeAthens, visit http://www.bikeathens.com/get_involved/gashares.html

October Courteous Mass with a Halloween theme:

BikeAthens will host its October Courteous Mass bike ride on Friday, October 27, beginning at 6PM at City Hall. To celebrate in the Halloween spirit, riders are encouraged to wear a costume for the ride!

Courteous Mass is a monthly, 1-1.5 hour casual-pace bike ride of 5-6 miles around Athens. Intended to demonstrate support for better bike facilities and safer traffic conditions, it is also a great opportunity for less-experienced cyclists to try riding on the streets, and is a fun social event. The ride kicks off at City Hall at 6:00 p.m. All ages welcome. Please bring helmets and water. For more information, including a route map, see http://www.bikeathens.com/activities/cmass/index.html

BikeAthens Calendar Online:
