Action Alert

The Mayor's FY '06 budget for Athens-Clarke County contains more money for police, planning, and firefighters, but none for night and weekend bus service.

The $150 million budget does not include the ~$300,000 Athens Transit requested to run some buses at night and on weekends.

If you care about transit, you can contact the mayor and your commissioners directly(http://www.bikeathens.com/resources/contacts.html#acc) and/or show up at the upcoming agenda-setting session to voice your concerns.

Please note of the following important dates:
Thursday, May 19, 7pm.  Public Comment will be taken at the Mayor and Commission’s Agenda Setting Session in the City Hall Commission Chambers.  You are needed to speak up at this meeting.

Tuesday, June 7, 7pm.  The Athens-Clarke County Commission is scheduled to adopt the FY06 Budget at their regular monthly meeting  in the City Hall Commission Chambers.
